About Us

Saint Katharine of Sienna was established in 1903. On September 13, 1903, four sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia enrolled one hundred thirteen students and taught classes in the Church basement. In 1916, a school building was erected on the present site.

In 1973, St. Katharine's was named a primary school and included in the Queen of Peace Cluster with S.S. James and John, another primary school, and St. Wenceslaus, a middle school. That year a cluster board, consisting of five members from each of the three locations, was established to determine policy for the three buildings.

St. Katharine offers grades Pre-K (3 and 4 year olds) thru 8th grade. We are fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary Schools.

Ms. Angela Calamari, Principal, has been an educator for over 18 years. She comes to St. Katharine School from Resurrection-St. Paul School in Ellicott City. Her major focus is to improve reading and math skills to help our students obtains the academics needed to be successful in life.

Our staff includes graduates from Loyola College of Maryland and Towson University. We also have nuns from the Oblate Sisters of Providence, the oldest order of African American nuns in the U.S.
